ABSTRACT: This study investigated the impact of early childhood education on multicultural competence among young children. Objectives included assessing levels of multicultural competence, identifying effective educational practices, and evaluating the long-term benefits of early multicultural education. A survey design was used for its efficiency in collecting diverse data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 220 children from preschools in Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that children who participated in multicultural education programs demonstrated higher levels of multicultural competence, with activities such as cultural immersion experiences, diverse classroom materials, and interactive cultural lessons being particularly effective. The study recommended integrating multicultural education into early childhood programs to develop multicultural competence from an early age.
